Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, particularly in urban areas with high population density. Data from the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey (Survei Kesehatan Indonesia/SKI) indicate that DHF continues to affect various age groups and regions, highlighting the need to examine factors associated with DHF incidence as a basis for effective prevention strategies. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with the incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in Indonesia based on the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey data and related research findings. This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach using secondary data from SKI 2023. The dependent variable was the incidence of DHF, while the independent variables included demographic characteristics, socioeconomic status, and type of residential area. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and interpretatively to identify patterns of association between the study variables. The findings showed that DHF incidence was higher among children and adolescents, urban residents, and populations with lower levels of education and socioeconomic status. Environmental and household behavioral factors, such as water container management and mosquito breeding site control practices, were consistently associated with DHF incidence based on findings from previous studies. The incidence of DHF is influenced by the interaction of demographic, environmental, behavioral, and socioeconomic factors. DHF control efforts should prioritize environmental-based interventions and sustainable community behavior change, particularly in urban areas.
