Soy Milk Based Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) for The Treatment Malnutrition In Children: A Systematic Review

Abstract
Malnutrition is global health problems that causes infant and child mortality in the developing countries. The supplementary feeding program is the Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) approach which was developed in the form of Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), an energy-dense food fortified, to meet the nutritional needs in dealing with recovery from Sever Acute Malnutrition (SAM). Development innovation of local RUTF is needed by utilizing local Indonesian food that is usually consumed by the community. One of the ingredients that can be used is local soybeans. This study aimed to identify and compare the performance of Ready to Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) derived from soybeans that are processed into soy milk or RUTF (SMS-RUTF) based on soy-corn as therapeutic food for malnourished children. This study was conducted through a literature study approach obtained from the PubMed and Google Scholar database which is discussing the effectiveness of RUTF made from other than milk. Furthermore, the selection of articles based on the characteristics of the study, and the inclusion-exclusion criteria. This study found four articles that showed the RUTF derived from soybeans processed into soy milk food or RUTF (SMS-RUTF) based on soy-corn-sorghum-based works as therapy for children who have malnutrition RUTF can be processed with local ingredients such as soybeans to be a solution therapy for children who are malnourished.
