Abstract
Sudden cardiac arrest accounts for 50% of deaths from heart problems. Appropriate care in treating cardiac arrest is Basic Life Support (BLS). Cardiac arrests are often encountered by lay people, making it crucial for lay people to recognize and perform BLS. The victim's chances of survival are greater if initial assistance is provided as early as possible before medical personnel arrive and provide definitive treatment. This study aims to obtain an overview of the level of knowledge of the general public, especially in Margorejo Village, Pati Regency, regarding BLS for cardiac arrest victims. This is a descriptive quantitative study using a cross-sectional method with a purposive sampling technique. The population and sample in this study in December 2023 were 210 people aged 20-49 years from the entire community of Margorejo Village, Pati Regency. The sample size for this study was 42 people, meeting predetermined criteria. The research instrument used a questionnaire whose validity and reliability have been tested by the researcher. Data analysis used descriptive statistics. The analysis revealed that the majority of the public had poor knowledge (42.9%), followed by moderate knowledge (31.0%), and good knowledge (26.2%).
