Main Article Content
Abstract
Post-cesarean section mobilization refers to movements, positioning, or activities undertaken within a few hours following delivery by cesarean section. Early mobilization exercises facilitate wound healing, alleviate pain, enhance muscle strength, and improve functional activity in post- cesarean women. The role of midwives in early mobilization is crucial as they assist postpartum cesarean patients in getting out of bed and encourage walking as soon as possible. This study aims to describe the implementation of early mobilization in post-cesarean section patients at PKU Muhammadiyah Hospital Yogyakarta, with a specific objective to understand mobilization behavior based on respondent characteristics. The study was conducted from April to July 2024. This descriptive qualitative research utilized a cross-sectional approach. The population comprised 35 post-cesarean patients, and the sample was selected using total sampling, encompassing 35 participants. Data collection was performed using observation sheets derived from medical records. Descriptive analysis methods were employed for data interpretation. The findings revealed that 13 respondents (37.1%) performed early mobilization through right and left lateral movements, 16 respondents (45.8%) engaged in sitting mobilization, and 6 respondents (17.1%) practiced standing mobilization. This indicates that mobilization was optimized, as the majority of respondents performed sitting mobilization (45.8%). This study is expected to provide input for educational efforts regarding early mobilization and emphasize the importance of family involvement during the first day post-cesarean section.
