In in vitro testing, curry leaf extract has an effectiveness that can inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, curry leaf extract in the moderate zone has a concentration of 2.5% w/v (8.91 mm) able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus. Staphylococcus aureus, while in the strong zone curry leaf extract has a concentration of 7.5% w/v (10.93 mm) and a concentration of 10% w/v (13.11 mm) the mechanism of curry leaf extract has antibacterial activity which has compounds one of which is that is, saponins can become antibacterial compounds caused by their active substances similar to detergents, saponins can cause leakage in proteins and enzymes in the cells so that saponins will damage membrane permeability and can also reduce surface tension on the bacterial cell wall to interfere with the survival of bacteria. Curry leaf essential oil (Murraya koenigii.) belongs to the monoterpene and sesquiterpene groups, namely ka rhophyllene 38.92%, -pinene 19.10%, -phelandrene 8.91%, humulena 7.13%, and germacrene 6.51%. One of the results of oxidation of curry leaf oil produces clovene compounds which are thought to be produced from oxidation. karyophyllene and -terpinene compounds produced by isomerization of -pinene.
