Abstract
Japanese encephalitis (JE) is a mosquito-borne viral infection that causes inflammation of the brain and remains a significant public health concern across Asia, including Indonesia, due to its high mortality and disability rates among children. JE vaccination is the most effective preventive measure against the disease. The study aims to determine the coverage of Japanese encephalitis (JE) vaccination among infants aged 10-12 months at Puskesmas (Community Health Center) Kotagede I . This study utilized a quantitative descriptive design with a cross-sectional methodology. Secondary data were sourced from medical records and vaccine cohort registrations, while primary data were utilized for triangulation by verifying the Kesehatan Ibu dan Anak-KIA (Maternal and Child Health-MCH) Handbook during home visits. The research comprised 92 infants chosen using complete sampling. The data were examined utilizing univariate statistics and are given as frequency distributions and percentages. The JE vaccination coverage in the service area of Puskesmas Kotagede I was 71.7%, which was below the provincial and municipal target of 95%. Based on respondent characteristics, vaccination coverage was higher among female infants (57.6%). Most vaccinated infants were born to mothers aged 20–35 years (97.8%), multiparous mothers (53.3%), mothers with higher educational attainment (53.3%), and mothers who were not employed (70.7%). Japanese encephalitis (JE) vaccination coverage at Puskesmas Kotagede I has not yet reached the provincial and municipal target of 95%. Strengthening community education and optimizing immunization services are recommended to improve JE vaccination coverage.
