Abstract
Breast cancer has the highest prevalence in 2020, at 42.1 per 100,000 people, with an average death rate of 17 per 100,000 people. The high prevalence of breast cancer in Indonesia is due to a lack of public awareness of BSE efforts to detect early breast cancer. Furthermore, Covid -19 worsens the condition of breast cancer patients. This study aims to determine how breast cancer counseling affected the level of BSE knowledge in female adolescents in class XII at SMA Negeri 1 Klirong in 2021. The study employed a pre-experimental design with a single group pretest-posttest. In this study, 188 class XII female students from SMA Negeri 1 Klirong were sampled using a total sampling technique. A questionnaire was used as the data measurement tool. The Wilcoxon statistical test was used to analyze the data. The Wilcoxon statistical test produced a p value of 0.000 (level of BSE knowledge of female adolescent in SMA Negeri 1 Klirong class XII). Conclusions and recommendations: that breast cancer counseling has a significant influence on the level of BSE knowledge in class XII female adolescents at SMA Negeri 1 Klirong. By performing early detection of breast cancer once a month, it is hoped that female adolescents will be more aware of their reproductive health.
