The Relationship of Parity with The Use of Intra Uterine Device Contraception in Puskesmas Sleman Yogyakarta

Abstract
The government's current family planning program implementation strategy is more focused on increasing the use of long-term contraception, one of which is the IUD. Intra Uterine Device (IUD) is a contraceptive device that is inserted into the uterus with high effectiveness, reaching 99.4%. One of the factors that influences the use of IUDs is parity, because the more children there are, the higher the desire to limit them. The research aims to determine the relationship between parity and the use of intrauterine device (IUD) contraception at Puskesmas (primary health centre) Sleman Yogyakarta. The research design used in this study was case control, the sampling technique used kuota sampling with a sample size of 106 respondents. The research instrument used a master data table sheet via medical records. Data were analysed using univariate and bivariate analysis techniques using the chi-square test. The statistical test results showed that 33 respondents (31.1%) were primipara, 56 respondents (52.8%) were multipara, and 17 respondents (16.0%) were grandemultipara. The research results showed that the p value was 0.001, which means <0.05. The conclusion is that there was a relationship between parity and the use of intrauterine device (IUD) contraception at Puskesmas Sleman Yogyakarta. Researchers suggest that Puskesmas Sleman Yogyakarta should continue to strive to improve the completeness of acceptor medical records to make it easier for health workers when there are evaluations related to family planning programs.
