Abstract
Menarche or what is also called first menstruation generally occurs in 10 - 14 years old teenagers. Some teenagers feel very dirty and uncomfortable on their first menstruation. The feeling of confusion, fear, anxiety always is felt by woman who experiences menstruation for the first time. This research aims to determine the relation between knowledge about menstruation and readiness to face menarche among 5th grade female students at The Elementary School (SD) Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3 Yogyakarta. This research had quantitative methods with a descriptive correlation research design and cross sectional approach on 10-11 years old female students at SD Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3 Yogyakarta with the total respondents is 39. The relation between knowledge about menstruation and readiness to face menarche with the correlation coefficient value using the Spearman's Rank Test statistically had a correlation coefficient value of 0.343 with a significant level of p value of 0.032 < 0.05. It could be seen that the correlation coefficient obtained in this study was 0.343. The results proved that the relation between knowledge about menstruation and readiness to face menarche among female students at SD Muhammadiyah Wirobrajan 3 Yogyakarta in 2023 was classified as sufficient category.
