Description of The Anxiety Level of Young Women about Physical Changes During Puberty at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Yogyakarta

Abstract
Adolescence is a phase of transition defined by an increase in the hormones progesterone and estrogen,which cause a variety of changes. The physical changesis the most noticeable. Adolescents' attitudes might be affected by these changes, which can induce fear, embarrassment and anxiety. Adolescents in Indonesia who suffer from anxiety disorders range in age from 10to 17 years. The objective of this study is to describe female adolescents’ anxiety over physical changes during puberty. A descriptive design with a crosssectional design was used in this research. Data collection methods employed a questionnaire. This study included all 133 class VII female students, with a total sample of 57 participants. The level of anxiety ofyoung women concerning physical changes during puberty was described using univariate analysis. The findings revealed that 53 respondents (93.0%) experienced anxiety. Researchers suggest schools to provide counseling related to changes during puberty through the School Health Services (UKS) workprogram, which collaborated with Wirobrajan Primary Health Center.
