Abstract

The percentage of births to babies with Low Birth Weight (LBW)  is one of the indicators most widely used to measure the health level of populations around the world. The infant mortality rate (IMR) in Indonesia is 24 per 1000 live births. In Central Java the IMR is 8.4 per 1,000 live births. In Temanggung Regency, the IMR in 2018 was 12.9 per 1000 live births. One of factors that indicator of LBW is CED during pregnancy. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) during pregnancy with LBW. This study uses a case control method using a retrospective approach with a total population sample of 34 mothers who gave birth with LBW and as a control of 34 mothers who gave birth without LBW in the working area of ​​the Temanggung Health Center, simple random sampling with ratio of 1: 1. Data collection using secondary data. The correlation analysis using chi square test with 95% confidence level. The results showed a significant correlation between anemia and CED during pregnancy with the incidence of LBW with a proven p value = 0,000 (<0.05). Efforts to prevent and reduce the number of anemia pregnant women and Chronic Energy Deficiency by involving all parties, both government and community and increasing counseling about low birth baby weight.
