Abstract

Interprofessional collaboration is cooperation carried out by two or more people involving various professions with a specific goal. In hospitals, the practice of interprofessional collaboration is widely carried out by health workers such as doctors, nurses, midwives, physiotherapists, pharmacists, and so on. Interprofessional collaboration that is low or that does not run optimally will hinder the provision of care to patients, which can impact patient safety. This study aims to determine the relationship between interprofessional collaboration and patient safety in hospitals. The type of research used in this research is quantitative correlational with a cross-sectional design. The independent variable in this research is interprofessional collaboration, the dependent variable in this research is patient safety. Data collection was carried out using digital instruments with the Google Form platform which was distributed via the Google Form link on the WhatsApp application. The interprofessional collaboration instrument in this study used the ICCAS standard instrument. Patient safety instruments were developed by researchers. The respondents in this study were 56 nurses who worked in hospitals in the Pati Residential area. The results of this study show that there is a significant relationship with a fairly strong correlation between interprofessional collaboration and patient safety in hospitals with a p-value of 0.000 and a Spearman test result of 0.492. The conclusion is that there is a relationship between interprofessional collaboration and patient safety. It is recommended that hospitals improve their interprofessional collaboration practices so that patient safety is guaranteed
