Abstract
Hypertension or high blood pressure is a disorder that occurs in the circulatory system, where a person is said to have hypertension if he has a systolic blood pressure exceeding 140 mmHg and a diastolic pressure of more than 90 mmHg which can be measured using a tensimeter. Patients with hypertension must adhere to taking medication so that blood pressure remains stable and can avoid disease complications. Education is an independent nursing action that can increase medication adherence in hypertensive patients if it is carried out in a structured manner. This study aims to describe the effect of providing education on the level of medication adherence in hypertensive patients. This service was carried out on March 18, 2023, using a cross-sectional design method that explores risk factors and effects through an observational approach or data collection at the same time. Analysis of medication adherence was carried out descriptively and measured using a questionnaire. The results of the study showed that after conducting structured education, the level of adherence to the use of antihypertensive drugs was classified as high.
