Semi-Fowler Position Absorption in Pulmonary TB Patients to Reduce Shortness of Breath in the Emergency Room of RST Wijayakusuma Purwokerto

Abstract
Pulmonary TB is a disease of disorders of the respiratory system that affects lung tissue so that it requires oxygen. Improper handling of TB patients will cause various complications, one of which is adult respiratory failure syndrome. Patients with shortness of breath, nostrils breathing, cyanosis can be given additional O2 and breathing apparatus and can also be done semi-fowler positioning. The semi-fowler position is to lift the head and body raised with a 45o degree of inclination, using the force of gravity to help lung development and reduce pressure from the abdomen to the diaphragm. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of semi-fowler positioning in Pulmonary TB patients. The research used case studies with a nursing care approach as a descriptive method. The results showed that the semi-fowler position was effective for reducing shortness of breath which was supported by previous research and nursing evaluation results. The conclusion of this study after nursing intervention can be concluded that the provision of semi-fowler positions can reduce complaints of shortness of breath and cough in Pulmonary TB patients.
