The Effect of Knowledge of Pregnant Women on Anxiety During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract

The pandemic conditions experienced by all countries have a direct impact on the health of pregnant women. Where the group of pregnant women is one of the groups at great risk of transmission of COVID 19. Based on 2020 data on the number of confirmed patients for the group of pregnant women, there were 4.9% of pregnant women confirmed positive for COVID-19 out of 1,483 confirmed cases who had data on accompanying conditions. The condition of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused many restrictions on all maternal and neonatal health services. This causes pregnant women to be in a condition of discomfort and anxiety. They feel that they are not free to do pregnancy checks at health facilities or attend classes for pregnant women because they are afraid they will be infected and infect the fetus in their womb. The purpose of this study was to see the effect of knowledge of pregnant women on the anxiety experienced by pregnant women. This study used a cross-sectional research design. The research location was in one of the East Jakarta Independent Midwife Practices. The population is all pregnant women from Trimester I to III, with a total sample size of 50 people. The results showed that knowledge of pregnant women has a significant relationship with anxiety (p-value 0.0001). The condition of the COVID-19 pandemic that is experienced has a direct psychological impact on pregnant women. Anxiety felt by a pregnant woman will have an impact on health problems that are not good for her and the fetus. Pregnant women who have good knowledge about the concept of pregnancy and pregnancy examinations do not escape the feeling of anxiety.
