Abstract

Garbage is something that is not used, not used, not liked, or something that is thrown away that comes from human activities and does not happen by itself. Improper management will add to the pile of waste. There are various factors that cause people to still litter. These include knowledge, attitudes, belief systems, and community culture. As well as the availability of facilities and infrastructure and regarding the support of local or village governments in handling waste. Disposing of garbage indiscriminately will cause environmental and health impacts. The purpose of this study was to analyze the public health impact of the practice of littering in Mulyoharjo Village, Pati Regency. Researchers used qualitative research methods that produced descriptive data by interviewing a total of 8 informants including the Mulyoharjo Village community, the Environment Service, village officials, and puskesmas. Informants have sufficient knowledge about the impact of littering. With the research instrument using interview guidelines and a recording device. Indifference does not reprimand each other when they see people littering. The belief system is low and the community assumes that littering is a common practice. The unavailability of waste management infrastructure in Mulyoharjo Village plus inadequate support from local and village governments triggers the practice of littering. The impact of diarrhea is due to various reasons, one of which is the accumulation of garbage which triggers an increase in fly vectors. Knowledge will not affect the practice of littering if the attitudes, beliefs, and culture of the community do not change and inadequate infrastructure and support from the local or village government trigger the practice to continue. Heaps of garbage will increase the fly population which can cause diarrhea.
