Health Education on Early Detection of Breast Cancer Through Audio Visual Breast Self Examination in Women of Rolling Age: Study Cross Sectional

Abstract

Breast cancer is the most common cancer and is the main cause of cancer death in women. Exposure to alcohol consumption, family history of genetics and breast cancer, previous history of breast disease, history of menstruation that started at an early age (< 12 years) or menarche that occurred at an advanced age (> 55 years), reproductive history such as not having children and not breastfeeding, hormonal influences, obesity, history of radiation to the chest wall, environmental factors, the presence of mutations in certain genes as well as demographic risk factors such as body mass index and height are determining factors for breast cancer risk. Objective to determine the effect of health education on early detection of breast cancer using audiovisual breast self-examination (BSE) on knowledge among women of childbearing age in Wates Village, Undaan District, Kudus Regency. Research method is a quasi-experimental type with a cross-sectional approach and a pre-test and post-test control group design. The research location was carried out in Wates Village, Undaan District, Kudus Regency, in March 2023 with a population of women of childbearing age aged 12-30 years. The sampling technique used a total sampling of 48 subjects. Data analysis using Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. Research results there was a significant difference in knowledge before and after receiving education in both the control group with a p-value of 0.000 and the intervention group with a p-value of 0.000. Apart from that, there is a significant difference in knowledge between the two groups with a significance value of 0.870. Conclusion health education on early detection of breast cancer through audiovisual breast self-examination (BSE) has a significant effect on knowledge among women of childbearing age in Wates Village, Undaan District, Kudus Regency.
