Abstract

Background: Hypertension in pregnancy constitutes 15% of pregnancy complicators and one of the top three causes of maternal mortality and morbidity. This hypertension can be in the form of Chronic Hypertension, Gestational Hypertension or develop further into Preeclampsia and Eclampsia.In Indonesia the mortality and morbidity of hypertension in pregnancy is also still quite high. Research Objective: to determine the relationship between knowledge of pregnant women and the incidence of hypertension in pregnancy at the Gamping II Health Center, Sleman, Yogyakarta. Research method: This type of research is a quantitative descriptive study with a cross sectional design, a sample of 73 respondents from 270 populations. The sample in this study were all pregnant women who came to visit the Gamping II Community Health Center. The sampling technique used is accidental sampling. The data used are primary and secondary data. Data analysis included univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. Research results: the results of the analysis show that there is a relationship between knowledge and the incidence of hypertension in pregnancy, the p-value = 0.041 < (0.05) with a low level of correlation of 0.233. Conclusion: there is a relationship between knowledge of pregnant women and the incidence of hypertension in pregnancy at the Gamping II Community Health Center. Suggestion: Pregnant women should check their pregnancies more often, so that they can improve the health of mother and baby.
