Abstract
Critically ill patients who are treated in the ICU require comprehensive care. The comprehensive dimensions of humans include biological (physical), psychological, social, cultural and spiritual dimensions. The role of nurses in providing spiritual services is very important, considering that in 1998 WHO officially changed the definition of health and included spiritual aspects into the elements of human health, where it was stated that health is a dynamic state of physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being. In fulfilling spiritual needs, nurses can provide facilities for patients to pray, meditate, read books, and guide them in prayer. Nurses can also take independent actions or collaborate with religious leaders or clergy.Objective to describe the role of nurses in meeting the spiritual needs of patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) RSUD dr. Loekmono Hadi Kudus. The type of research used is quantitative research using descriptive studies. The number of samples in this study were 20 respondents with a total sampling technique. The results showed that the role of nurses in meeting the spiritual needs of patients in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) was mostly high spiritual level as many as 13 respondents (65%), moderate spiritual level as many as 5 respondents (25%) and low spiritual level as many as 2 respondents (10%). Conclusio: the role of nurses in meeting the spiritual needs of ICU patients is mostly high spiritual level as many as 13 respondents (65%).
