Abstract

The state's health status is determined by the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR). In 2019, the most common cause of maternal death in Indonesia is bleeding. The main cause of bleeding is anemia. The incidence of anemia is associated with an increase in gestational age makes the blood's iron divided for the growth of the fetus in the uterus and hemodilution during pregnancy. The government program to reduce anemia in pregnant women is by supplementing 90 Fe tablets during pregnancy. The succession of Fe tablets consumtion depends on the obedience of pregnant women in consuming Fe tablets. The high coverage of Fe tablet administration does not have an impact on reducing anemia if the obedience to Fe tablet consumption is still low. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Fe tablets consumtion obedience and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women at PMB Emilia Suryani. The type of research is quantitative research with cross sectional design. The sample in this study used a total sampling technique. Samples consist of 36 third trimester pregnant women (≥ 28 weeks age gestation) during July 2022 at PMB Emilia Suryani. Analysis test was using the Fisher Exact Test. The value of ρ = 0.0001 was obtained, meaning that there was a relationship between Fe tablets consumtion obedience and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women at PMB Emilia Suryani. Pregnant women who consume Fe tablets regularly at least 90 tablets during pregnancy can increase their total intake of Fe in pregnant women by 5400 mg. This number exceeds the amount of Fe needed during pregnancy and therefore prevent the incidence of maternal anemia. There is a significant relationship between Fe tablets consumtion obedience and the incidence of anemia in pregnant women.
