Abstract

Insomnia is a sleep disorder in which the sufferer has trouble sleeping, often wakes up from sleep and sleeps briefly. The impact of insomnia is the environment, impaired concentration, loss of motivation. Adolescents' inability to manage time using social media will have an impact on irregular sleep patterns resulting in insomnia. This study aims to determine the correlation between the duration to use social media and insomnia in adolescents at pagerwojo village, Limbangan, Kendal. This type of research uses a correlational analytic type using a cross sectional approach. The population in this study were 135 adolescents. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with a total sample of 58 adolescents. Data collection used the KSPBJ-IRS questionnaire and the Social Media questionnaire as a data collection tool. The results of statistical tests using Chi Square showed that there was a correlation between the duration to use social media and insomnia with a p-value of 0.000. Adolescents are advised to reduce the duration of social media use to prevent insomnia.
