Abstract

Background: Skin infection is one of the health problems that are often found in tropical countries such as Indonesia. Skin infections that often occur are caused by bacteria. Staphylococcus aureus is a bacteria that causes skin infections in children and bacteria that cause nosocomial in the community. This bacteria will defeat the body's defense system and enter the blood vessels then spread to other organs and cause infection. About 7-10% of skin infections in children are caused by bacteria. Objective: To determine the antibacterial activity of Chinese ketepeng leaves with a concentration of 20% 25% and 30% against Staphylococcus aureus. To determine the content of secondary metabolites contained in the ethanol extract of Chinese ketepeng leaves. To determine what concentration has the greatest inhibitory power against Staphylococcus aureus. Method: type of laboratory experimental research. The population is the Chinese ketepeng garden with a sample of 1 kg of Chinese ketepeng leaves. Result Chinese Ketepeng leaves (Cassi alata L.) can inhibit the antibacterial activity of Staphylococcus aureus. Conclusion: The ethanol extract of Chinese Ketepeng leaves is able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria at concentrations of 20%, 25% and 30% in the strong inhibitory category.
